Cemetery Information

In South Dakota vital records were started recorded in 1905. The WPA records list many earlier listings with a 1905 date which is not the actual date. The WPA records as listed in the SDGenweb archives. KCGS has walked all the cemeteries and is in process of creating a database with corrected dates and later burials. We know that many burial occurred in orphan cemeteries or on farmsteads and some graves were moved. If you know of any the these places please share the information with KCGS so we can create a better database for you.

Several residences of Kingsbury county have donated boxes of obituaries. We have indexed them and continue to enlarge the data base along with collecting current newspaper obits. We welcome copies of newspaper obituary or funeral bulletins
